MUNDELEIN – Governor Pat Quinn has signed groundbreaking new legislation creating a cyber gang unit pilot program in two local law enforcement jurisdictions, State Rep. Ed Sullivan (R-Mundelein) announced today. The new law will help local law enforcement prevent gang-related crime by tracking and investigating gang activity through use of the internet.
The new law, approved as House Bill 3716, was sponsored in the House by Rep. Sullivan and in the Senate by Sen. Michael Bond (D-Grayslake). The law allocates money for the establishment of new cyber gang units within the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group as well as the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

MUNDELEIN – State Rep. Ed Sullivan (R-Mundelein) has announced the opening of his new district office located at 700 N. Lake Street, Suite 101 in Mundelein, at the northwest corner of Route 176 and Route 45 inside the Century 21 Market Place Office Complex.
“I welcome all residents of the 51st District to stop by and say hello next time they are in the area,” Rep. Sullivan said. “Our phone number and e-mail address are remaining the same, but our new district office location affords better parking options for visitors and increased accessibility at a major intersection in Mundelein.”

MUNDELEIN – Giving local residents a new tool to become activists for reform in state government, the Lake County Republican delegation to the Illinois House are urging taxpayers to visit the newly created www.reinventillinois.com website to submit ideas on how lawmakers should cut the state budget and suggest reforms needed to re-focus state priorities onĀ fiscal discipline and economic growth.
The site is the latest effort by House Republicans to incorporate public opinion and cultivate a broad range of feedback to help address the growing state budget crisis and fuel the need for budget and ethics reform.

SPRINGFIELD – Dealing a blow to Governor Pat Quinn and top legislative Democrats seeking approval of a massive income tax hike, the Illinois House of Representatives has voted decisively to reject a budget blueprint that would have increased the state income tax rate on individuals and businesses without providing any property tax relief. Instead, the General Assembly approved a partial-year piecemeal budget to keep state government operating through the end of the year without addressing a staggering budget shortfall.

New legislation designed to track gang activity in Lake County over the Internet has passed both Houses of the Illinois General Assembly and is awaiting the governor’s signature.
State Rep. Ed Sullivan, R-51st, of Mundelein, sponsored House Bill 3716, which creates a pilot Cyber Gang Unit through the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG).

No salary increase for state legislators

The move may have been a political ploy by Republicans in the Illinois House of Representatives. But it worked. And, for that, Democrats should be embarrassed.
The bottom line: Our elected officials in Springfield should not get any kind of salary increase come July 1.
